Heya!
Running and running, so forgive me if I keep it short and sweet... Here are the last few images I've been working on. The first couple are essentially done, the last two are still in the rough draft stages, though nearing completion.
Apres Moi Le Deluge (After Me Comes The Flood)

inspired by the Regina Spektor song
Desert Passage

In other news... I Googled president bush moron & came up with 313,000 results... ;)
More to come soon! Thanks for coming by!

The Escape Artist by Kenneth Rougeau This is a concept that's been floating around my head the last two or three weeks & I'm happy to have finally done something with it. The Escape Artist (flying away on the kite) is none other than Harry "Handcuff" Houdini. The really fun part? I had no idea at the time, but the image was created on Houdini's birthday (March 24, 1874). The synchronicity never stops!
An Invitation
by Kenneth Rougeau
"Curiouser and curiouser!' -- If you think that's weird, you're going to love this... Back when I was working on the Alice In Wonderland series of images, I created a pic called "An Invitation" in which a frog footman receives an invitation from a fish footman. The letter I'd used, it turns out, was penned by Jack The Ripper & is referred to as the "Dear Boss" letter. Even stranger, upon discovering this & delving a little further, I became aware that Lewis Carroll himself is considered a suspect in the Ripper murders! How bizarre is that?! Check it out: http://www.casebook.org/suspects/carroll.html
Here's the latest in my ongoing Manimals series (see also: Sheeple, Dandy Lions, El Bandido Enmascarado, etc). I'll have it framed and on display at Kelly's Olympian, along with several other images from the series, from Thursday March 27th - Wednesday April 23rd. UPDATE: The more I look at it, the more problems I find, so I've decided to call this one a rough draft & will work on it a bit more this evening... I like it and all, but I can do better ;) Anyway, prints are offline until the final version is up.

Based on Franz Kafka’s short story, The Bridge, in which a man stretches himself out across a chasm, turning himself into a bridge. He waits patiently and, in time, a traveller approaches. The traveller walks to the center of the bridge and stops. He pokes at the bridge a bit with his cane, as though testing it. Unsatisfied with the results, he begins jumping up and down on the bridge with all of his might. The bridge, wondering what this man is doing and why, turns to speak & causes them both to fall. (If anyone has an English translation of this story, I’d LOVE to read it again - it’s been YEARS!!).

Dandy Lions is the newest image in my ongoing series of "manimal" pictures (see also Sheeple & El Bandido Enmascarado). The original concept is Charlotte Self's & she was kind enough to let me run wild with the idea (thanks beautiful, it came out great).
Elsewhere, things are still a horrendous mess, but we're getting back on track at last... I'm working full time now and haven't had as many opportunities for artistic pursuits as I'd like to these past few weeks. I am working on a number of things though, bit by bit as life allows. The next Through The Looking Glass pic (Faster! Faster!) is coming along nicely & will hopefully be completed by the beginning of next week. I've got a few other odds and ends in various stages of development & a ton of ideas swimming around my head, so expect more soon!

In The Garden Of Live Flowers
by Kenneth Rougeau
prints & ACEO art trading cards available at: http://synchronicity313.etsy.com
I've just put the finishing touches on the first illustration for Chapter Two of Lewis Carroll's classic fairy tale, Through The Looking Glass & What Alice Found There. I've got a fair idea of how I want the next one (Faster! Faster!) to look, and have a rough idea for a possible third image for this chapter of the story. We'll see how things go...
The garden was a whole lot of fun to put together. Collecting all of the faces and then positioning them where they looked good was probably the hardest thing about it... The flowers are the same varieties as mentioned in the text of the book: tiger-lilies, roses, violets, larkspurs & daisies.
COMING SOON: Faster! Faster!
Thanks for dropping by!!

Here's the second image in my new series based on Lewis Carroll's classic fantasy, Through The Looking Glass.

The Jabberwocky
by Kenneth Rougeau
---------------------------------------------
The Jabberwockyby Lewis Carroll
(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
